Sick Child Visits

When your child is sick, we understand how important it is to you to have your child seen on the same day. Same-day appointments are available daily throughout the week so that we can accommodate your family when your child is sick. Please call 303-430-0823 and we will be happy to schedule an appointment for your sick child on the same day at either our Thornton or Louisville office. We ask that you call and schedule a same-day appointment rather than just bringing your child into the clinic, in order to minimize your time spent in the waiting room. After Hours

It's midnight and you're awakened to the feverish cries of your young child. Nothing you've tried is bringing her fever down. Now what? Call the Thornton Office (303-430-0823). The Mountainland Pediatrics answering service will refer your call to a pediatric nurse at The Children's Hospital who will contact you within 5 minutes. The nurse will assess your situation and make recommendations. Depending on the circumstances, the on-call Mountainland Pediatrics' doctors may also contact you. The doctor may phone in a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, might recommend that you make an appointment with Mountainland Pediatrics the next morning, or might even ask that you bring your child to an Emergency Room as soon as possible. Whatever the recommendation, you will be comforted knowing that your child is in the capable hands of one of the nation's top 10 pediatric healthcare experts in the country.

Mental Health Assessments

Did you know that nearly 50% of primary care visits in the U.S. are related to some sort of mental health concern? Although children and adolescents make up nearly 25% of Colorado's population, they account for 33% of the mental health conditions diagnosed in Colorado. Providers at Mountainland Pediatrics will ask you and your child questions at each of your visits that are geared to identify potential emotional or behavioral issues, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. A mental health specialist from Community Reach Center is available to provide consults with your pediatrician and you, as needed, for children of any age.

Vaccinations

Parents who vaccinate their children are protecting them from 16 different diseases by the age of 2. We understand that you may have questions or concerns about vaccinating your children. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the the Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition are both excellent resources for parents, and provide the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Physicals

Your child's overall health is important to us! That's why all of our physicals are scheduled for 30 minutes, in order to allow enough time to review your child's health thoroughly and answer all of your questions. Be sure to call in advance to schedule a physical for your child. Because our schedules fill quickly between August and September, we suggest that you schedule your child's physical in the late spring or early summer.

Sport physical letters or updated immunization records can be generated at the time of your child's physical in most cases. We will need three to five business days to complete requests for immunization records or other sport physical related documentation.

Flu Clinics

In mid to late fall, Mountainland Pediatrics provides flu clinics for patients and their families. Appointments will be available on weekdays and weekends. Check our website in September for the flu clinic schedule.

All infants and children between the ages of 6 months and 9 years who are receiving the vaccine for the first time will require two flu vaccines. All children ages 10 and older only require one flu vaccine.

While in the hospital, your child will be seen by hospital staff who will communicate with Mountainland Pediatrics about your child's care.
